Frequently Asked Questions - Palm

I'm having trouble viewing Hebrew and Greek fonts.

You may need to install the original language fonts for your Palm OS device. (For Pocket PC fonts, see the Pocket PC FAQ.)

Install these fonts using the Palm quick install tool to the same location as your Bible files, with the exception of the Palm OT and Hebrew Unicode fonts which must be installed to your main memory.

Can I load more than one Bible file on my device?
Yes. The WS2GO application can switch between multiple Bible texts and even display up to three versions simultaneously on the screen.

To use multiple Bible text files with WS2GO:
  1. Download the most recent database for each Bible.
  2. Load the files into the Palm Install Tool, direct to SD card if you have one, and do a normal hotsync to the device.
  3. Tap the WS2GO icon to launch the application. Go to Tree > Tools > List of Bibles to choose the Bible version you wish to display.
I downloaded a Bible file, but I can't read it!
How do I install and read a Bible file on my handheld?

You need to install both parts of the WS2GO application: the WS2GO software and a Bible text file. Included on the download page for all products are specific installation instructions from PC or Mac computers.
Other reasons some files may not be transferred:
  • HotSync not matching
  • Out of memory
  • HotSync options not enabled
Try removing these files from the Palm Install Tool and then use the Add button to load them back in. Check to make sure you have enough memory to hold all of your Bible versions. Refer to the PalmOS manual for further troubleshooting.

How do I install WS2GO and text files from my Mac computer?
  1. If you have a Macintosh computer please download the .zip file to the Desktop of the Mac.
  2. Use Stuffit to open the .zip file and then Extract the WS2GO.prc file and any .pdb database file that you wish to install on your handheld to the Desktop of the Mac.
  3. Then load these files into the Install Handheld Files feature of the Palm Desktop.
  4. Direct WS2GO to main memory but the .pdb files can go to the SD Card if you have one.
  5. Then do a normal HotSync to the device.
  6. When completed, tap the WS2GO icon on your Palm OS device and go directly to WS2GO.
  7. Then go to Tree > Tools > List of Bibles to select the Bible you wish to display on the screen.
How do I make sure files are transferred during a HotSync operation?
There are times when files appear to be loaded on the PalmOS handheld and they are really not. To determine if the files have been correctly installed, open the WS2GO icon and go to Tree > List of Bibles; the files you loaded onto the device should appear here. You can also check the Delete menu from the Main Menus of the device; the files you loaded should appear here either in Handheld or on a Card, whichever was specified during the installation. For more information about installing files, consult the User Documentation that came with your PalmOS handheld.
Should I install WS2GO in main memory or on my SD card?
We recommend that the WS2GO file be installed in the main memory of the device. The Bible databases themselves can be stored on the SD card without a problem.
How do I replace my old version of WS2GO on my Palm device with a newer version?
The new version will replace the old one. Add the new version to your handheld and it will HotSync over the older version. If the installation is not working properly, you may want to delete the previous version from your handheld before installing the new one. To do this, simply go to the Delete menu from the Main Screen of the device and delete the two files WS2GO (or WS2GO) and WS2GOOpt. For more information about installing files, consult the User Documentation that came with your PalmOS handheld.
How can I use Bible files on my SD Card or Memory Stick?
We recommend that you install the WS2GO application file to the main memory of the Palm OS device. The Bible-xxx.pdb files for the Bibles of choice can be installed to the SD Card or Memory Stick, and WS2GO knows to go there and look for them. In some cases you may have to go to Tree>Options>Preferences>Extended Memory to enable the correct path to your SD card or Memory Stick (Clie).
How do I get WS2GO to work correctly on my Palm LifeDrive or T5?
First, be sure you have installed our latest version of WS2GO. Earlier versions install some unnecessary files that can cause problems with the display.
To install the Bible files on a storage card or in internal flash memory, use the FileOneTransfer program (T5) or LifeDrive Manager to create the file structure Palm\Launcher in both the storage card and internal memory.
Then copy and paste the Bible files into one of the newly created Launcher folders. Open WS2GO and go to Tree > List of Bibles. If you are not able to access the Bible files, go to Tree > Options > Preferences > Extended Memory, and set the path for the Bible to be /Palm/Launcher, and select OK.
Go to Tree > List of Bibles, and load the file you wish to read.
How do I upgrade my version of WS2GO?
To upgrade your version of WS2GO, simply visit http://www.wordsearch2go.com/download.php, download the auto install file, and follow the installation instructions. The new version will install over the top of the older version.
How do I use my Handmark SD Card on my new Palm?
After you put the SD Card into the slot on the device, there are several adjustments you may need to make so the software will work on the newer Palm devices.
  1. Go to http://www.wordsearch2go.com/download.php to download and install our latest version of WS2GO to main memory on your device. Since the card is read-only, the older WS2GO version will remain on the card, but do not use it. Use the new WS2GO that you install to the main memory of your device.
  2. If you have a T5 or LifeDrive, you may need to open the File One Transfer or LifeDrive Manager application, and create a /Palm/Launcher folder under the Internal memory of the device. Leave this folder empty, but it needs to be there as a mirror of the folder on the memory card.

LifeDrive Installation - LifeDrive Mgr doesn't work
If you have problems with the LifeDrive Manager on the desktop computer try the following manual workaround:
  1. Open the Files application on the LifeDrive.
  2. In the upper right corner select LifeDrive, and then click on the folder called Palm.
  3. In the Palm folder select Menu>Folder>New Folder and call this new folder Launcher.
  4. Put the LifeDrive in "Drive mode" - an application that you run from the main screen of the LifeDrive. It should then show up as a device from My Computer on your desktop computer and from there you can transfer the .pdb files (for the Bible databases) into the Launcher folder.
